If I were to close my eyes and revisit the highlights of my fifty year career, a three hour shoot at dawn on the Piemen River one misty morning would be right up there at the top of the list – Steve Parish, naturalist, author and photographer

All the fabulous photos in this newsletter edition have been taken by Steve Parish.

Shy but have been spotted

There have been a number of excited paddlers returning to shore with tales of platypus sightings close to the Pieman river’s edge. That is a pretty special sight to see them swimming happily along. How lucky they are to live in paradise.

Our sustainable story

Each newsletter we will share an update about how we work sympathetically with the environment.
This edition its all about renewable energy…

Our use of renewable energy includes evacuated tube solar hot water and a 5950W solar photovoltaic system with a twelve panel solar tracker to maximise input. This solar photovoltaic system meets 48% of our daily power needs, a highly satisfactory outcome in view of local climatic challenges. The solar hot water system supplies hot water for the restaurant, hotel and camp ground facilities. This evacuated tube system with gas boosting is regarded as the most greenhouse efficient form of water heating. We use highly energy efficient instant gas hot water for the accommodation buildings where solar hot water is not a feasible option. Efficiency of our hot water systems is maximised by well insulated pipes, and minimum temperature settings. As a result of all these measures EarthCheck rated our (accommodation) energy consumption as being 69% better than the Best Practice level for similar types of operations.

We recognise that the most effective means of reducing our carbon footprint is by energy efficiency.

As friends of Corinna what can you do to help in this mission? Short (& sweet) showers!

Try this! As friends of Corinna we recognise that you value the environment – when not with us at Corinna continue doing what you can to reduce energy usage and greenhouse emissions.

Final news bite

Two new cottages will be available to book in the next few months so please enquire about the completion progress when you book. More details and photo’s will be in the next newsletter edition. Happy adventures! …and we hope to see you soon.
