Welcome to Corinna

Tasmania, Australia

Welcome to Corinna Wilderness Village. The story and images that we share on these pages aim to entice you to one of the world’s most significant and inspiring places. At Corinna, in the western wilderness of Tasmania, nature is the hero. We invite you to Corinna where you can feed your soul and nourish your senses, in and around this remote settlement on the banks of a primitive river – an unforgettable experience that unlocks the secrets of the ancient takayna/Tarkine rainforest and the wild west coast of Australia's southernmost state.

"Corinna Wilderness Village provides an escape from mass tourism, to one of the most remote and beautiful parts of the world.

Corinna is an historic mining town turned wilderness retreat, sitting at the southern end of the Tarkine, the largest temperate rainforest in Australia."

We had a wonderful time at Corinna. It is so beautiful and so peaceful, we didn’t want to leave. The cottages are very comfortable, make sure to take everything you need in the way of fresh food if you are self-catering as there is nothing non-perishable at the General Store.

We did both cruises, the Arcadia and the Sweetwater and would recommend both as they were different experiences and both great. Also, do not pass up the chance to go for a kayak, a very peaceful way to get quite close and personal with the gorgeous scenery.

Recommend coming from Hobart as it is a much nicer trip than from Launceston even though it is longer. Also, if you come from Hobart you need to catch the Fatman barge across to Corinna so factor the opening times into your travel plans. Anyway, all up, definitely worth the trip!

My friend and I just stayed at Corinna in a beautiful twin cabin. It was very cosy and comfortable. We had dinner at the hotel on 2 nights and the meals were top-class restaurant quality. We went on the Arcadia boat trip on the Pieman River and we enjoyed the day with perfect weather.

The best thing though was the staff, and this includes the blokes running the car ferry, the crew on Arcadia and especially the hotel and accommodation staff. They were all so friendly, helpful and efficient and I would like to thank them very much.

I would recommend staying and spending a few days Corinna and enjoying the short walks and activities on offer. Also, treat yourself - have a meal at the hotel!

Such a beautiful & peaceful part of the world. How fortunate we feel to have experienced this wonderland. To switch off from society & everyday goings on with no mobile coverage was fantastic.

We hired a kayak & experienced something magical… Such still, cool water softly touched by mist at any given time. We did two walks & there are no words to describe the feeling of peace we experienced, not to mention the hundreds of shades of green in many shapes & forms that surrounded us.

The staff were so friendly & helpful & our cabin was so warm & cosy. My heaven. Thank you!
